A large rail connected site adjacent and connected to the East Coast Main Line. Formerly operated as a coal processing and disposal point designed for loading coal onto rail for onward transport.
The total site area extends to 137 acres, including the railway line connecting the site to the branch line in Ashington.
The main body of the site extends to approximately 47ha (116 acres), the majority of which was operated as a surface mine, now comprising rough grassland. The former disposal point infrastructure has been retained, comprising an access road, three concrete loading pads and a surfaced car park.
The site is located approximately 5 miles drive north of Ashington and 5 miles northeast of Morpeth Town Centres in Northumberland. Access is via an unnamed road which connects with the A189 and the A1068 1.4 miles to the east. The A189 becomes dual carriageway a further 2 miles southeast and provides good access to Blyth, Cramlington, the A19 and Tyneside.
